Save KPOJ: Send a message to Congressman Walden
On November 9, Clear Channel Media changed the format at KPOJ from progressive talk to sports. Within days, the Save KPOJ movement arose to give voice to the thousands of radio listeners that want to hear progressive voices on commercial talk radio.
The airwaves are owned by the public, and licensed to broadcasters with a responsibility to provide public-interest programming that serves the community. By airing conservative talk without progressive talk, we believe that Clear Channel Media is not fulfilling its responsibilities.
Congressman Greg Walden is the only member of Oregon's congressional delegation that has not endorsed the Save KPOJ movement. And yet, he is a high-ranking member of the GOP leadership and the Chairman of the very subcommittee that has jurisdiction in this matter.
We're calling on Rep. Walden to listen to the public - and consider the public policy implications of Clear Channel's decision to drop progressive talk in Portland and in cities across the country.
This campaign is a joint call-to-action by Save KPOJ and Onward Oregon.

As the Chairman of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, you have jurisdiction over radio broadcasting. In Portland, Clear Channel Media has recently dropped the progressive talk radio format at KPOJ 620 AM, even though the station had a loyal audience and profitable returns.
We urge you to hold a formal congressional hearing in Portland on the topic of media consolidation and the responsibility of broadcasters to offer diverse public-interest programming over the publicly-owned airwaves.
